Pinterest!

I am seriously loving and addicted to this new site: Pinterest I have yet to explore the expansive creative and inspiring power behind this simple site whose premise is linking and "pinning" images from websites. The coolness behind it lies in that, I can see what you "pin" and you can see what I "pin". Think Design Sponge-like imagery 24/7 from a million different sources! I've been using it as a way to organize my visual inspiration in efforts to develop a seriously awesome series for my class project. Oh yes, my theme officially is 1930's sailing, inspired by vintage travel postcards. Its a mouthful in comparison to my other classmates straight forward themes of bees, italian walls, the beach, etc. As always, I must be complicated. Check out some inspiration below for my surface designs.....

New photoshoot!

It's amazing how much faster and more productive a photo shoot can be when you are not trying to be the model, stylist, and photographer! Here are some lovely shots taken by the wonderfully talented Tim Bestor. Show season is coming to an end; it has been an exhausting and enlightening ride, one that brought lots of great people watching, new friends, and encouragement and admiration from shoppers! Catch me at a few more dates in both Providence (Sept 18, Oct 9) and Boston (Oct 3, 24).

the small, small world that we live in!

Saturday, my brother got married! It was a beautiful, beautiful day and everything looked gorgeous. It was wonderful spending time with so many friends and family members throughout the days leading up to the big event; making favors, centerpieces, etc. A week before the wedding, we were looking at the engagement photo shoot taken by their photographer, Kim Bova. As my brother was scrolling through her site I had to stop him because one of the brides looked familiar to me. I realized then who she was and that she was wearing one of my hair pieces! I was completely surprised and excited to see how beautiful it looked on her! This I suppose was a sign that living in a small town has its perks and yes, everyone seems to be connected in some way.

The insanity of a craftster...

Well, the first big opener of the craft season is upon me. Saturday I will be showing at the Putnam Artisan Marketplace in my lovely, little hometown! I'm psyched and also wishing that I had photos of my display/booth from my very first show because I have come a long way and folks, this one is going to be stellar! I have been working like a madwoman for the past few days trying to get ready. This is only teaser too because I will be showing at SOWA's Opening weekend in Boston on May 15th & 16th where 140 artisans will be selling their handmade goodies! Here are a few studio shots, aka, my living room that I have taken over, I'm sure much to my roommates joy! Hurrah! Some Fine Folks!

traveling through Espana...

Here are some shots from my recent trip to Spain. Not surprisingly they are all about pattern. My mother always yells at me because when I travel I tend to take lots of photos of things, pretty things, but things none the less. This trip I tried really hard to get me in a couple of shots, but as usual those things crept in. I just love pattern in a gotta have it everywhere kind of way!! Enjoy.

Come on spring, you can do it!

What I made today & how to steps for you...
add some fluffy batting to a wreath frame and then wrap with yarn. Glue on some pretty flowers, birds, and nest. Add some sticker letters for the final touch!

Happy Sunday/Schmalentine's Day...

As much as I profess to dislike this fake holiday, I did go so far as to arrange my whole wheat/banana/cashew mini muffins that I baked this morning into a heart shape for this photo. Lots of love to you all from me!

dreamy/swirly/melancholic pop music goodness

There seems to be a flashback to the 80's; dimly lit, diy shot music video's these days. (Also partially or full nudity involved) Is it wrong to secretly dig it? I liked Beach House's past cd's enough, however their newest release "Teen Dream"...love. It's probable that I will continue to listen on repeat over the course of the next week, month, etc. until something better comes my way. If so.

we love letterpress!

Yee Haw Press

Beautiful text, lush paper, embossed impressions. Ah, I just love it. A while back I acquired some metal type (best flea market find ever, a nice drawer set for only.....$1.00!! Clearly they didn't know what they had in front of them!) I have been looking into purchasing a tabletop Kelsey press. Maybe luck will be on my side next time I go flea marketing. I saw an article a while back on Yee Haw Press in Tennessee. Looks amazing!

Roast that garlic!

Backbone of Italian cooking: simple, two or three ingredients, very seasonal, very regional. Watching Bizarre Foods: Sicily....ahhh sicilia. I watched la dolce e vita last night. I'm still impressed by the amount of Italian I have retained. Of course, it's nothing to brag about, but still. ciao.

It's still winter but,

It's still winter but, I am trying to trick it into letting me grow my plants. My first and failed attempt to bring lush green foliage into my house was deciding to set up a terrarium. I bought a gorgeous glass container, dirt, rocks, and plants. Also to be noted, the first time going into Home Depot where when leaving, I didn't want to strangle myself. Harsh, maybe, but one can never find anything or anyone working there. Always forgetting about my lack of ability for judging spacial relationships, the plants were way to large for the container and stuck out the top. So, my gorgeous glass jar is now sitting on my floor, filled with dirt, looking sad, until I can find some smaller mossy greens to put inside. On the bright side, my basil is starting to grow! The joys one finds in 1/16" greens poking out of dirt!

so long vacation...

Well, it's been a good run. Considering that the past month has been on and off again vacation time. Now it's crack down time; grading, planning, photographing artwork! High energy art teacher time for the new semester. However, being the last day, I spent it well, tea, fresh strawberries, and yoga. I have found my core.

This weekend I went to the Dudley Do Right (largest, coolest, as advertised) indoor flea market in Dudley, MA. And did I make out! Vintage jewelry galore! I of course spent a good portion of my time there pouring through old, smelly, wonderful, button boxes. Deal of the day however was towards the end of the building where this woman had mixed bags of old lace and threads. She was asking only a dollar or two for each! So, of course I bought three and probably will have to go back and buy the rest. It was like Christmas going home and looking through them. Check out this amazing two pound bag of beautiful that was in there!
