Thinking about the idea of curating a home through the collection of unique objects, I started photographing spaces within my home space that show some of the items I have collected. These items have been gathered from antique stores, flea markets, the trash and friends. The act of collecting and setting up a home space allows us to feel rooted to a place. Although this sense of belonging, comfort, and familiarity can be interrupted over the course of our lives through moving place, each experience and reinterpretation of place continues to engage and intrigue us. Our own place gives us a sense of comfort, joy and control of our individuality. I am interested in the curation of a unique home space through collection, seeking to avoid a space determined by mass consumption.
